Life in Minnesota

If you’re thinking of moving to Minnesota but don’t know what to expect, you’ve come to the right place!  Born and raised in this beautiful state, Jeff and I know about the arts, culture, nature, diversity, employment opportunities, and “Minnesota Nice” that people talk about across the globe.  We can’t wait to share it with you!

ARTS & CULTURE

Arts and culture are a big deal here! In fact, we have one of the most vibrant art scenes in the country.  From local theater to dinner theater to Broadway musicals, there’s never a dull moment when it comes to live performances in the Twin Cities.  There are also beautiful museums, such as the Minnesota Children’s Museum, American Swedish Institute, the Frank Gehry-designed Weisman Art Museum, and one of the biggest urban sculpture parks in the U.S., the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.

MUSIC SCENE

Maybe you’ve heard of Prince?  Yeah, he’s from Minnesota.  His former home, Paisley Park, is now a museum in Chanhassen and open for tours.  And a club named First Avenue that was featured in Prince’s “Purple Rain?”  That’s here, too.  From live music in coffee shops to arena tours, Minnesota hosts artists that live locally or live half a world away.  In fact, the Twin Cities are in the Top 10 Best Music Cities in the US. EMPLOYMENTLittle known fact: Minnesota is called home by dozens of Fortune 500 companies, including Target, Best Buy, Land O Lakes, General Mills, and United Health Group.  In fact, we have the third most Fortune 500 companies per capita in the US.

BOUNDARY WATERS CANOE AREA

There aren’t many states where you can live in a metropolitan area and, within a few hours drive, be in pristine wilderness—with no cell towers or motorized boats in sight.  The vast Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness includes more than 1,000 lakes and 1,200 miles of canoe routes.  Stretching for 100 miles along the Canadian border, you won’t find restaurants, hotels, or even electricity.  There’s no better place in Minnesota to view the Northern Lights.  This is pristine wilderness at its finest and spending time there under the stars, without city lights and noise, will change your life.

PARKS & BIKING TRAILS

There are more than 4,000 miles of paved biking trails in Minnesota and we’re home to 67 state parks!  Nearly 99% of Twin Cities residents live within a 10-minute walk from a park.  In fact, Minnesota has been voted #2 in the country for having the best park system!

All this and 7 major league sports teams, incredible dining, top-notch healthcare, and beautiful snowfalls?  Get those bags packed- there’s no time to waste!
